9.1. Manage Operation Function

What is it?

- Definition: Develop overall strategy for operation, demands for product as well as production plan, quality standard management

- Example: Mc Donald's operation strategy is Just-in-time (JIT) as they have everything they need to asse,ble their products but they do not do it until an order is reaised. They also need to consider seasonal factors (in the summer, cold drinks are cosumed more, while in the winter, hot drinks are more demanded). Their food need to meet quality standard of DFA (in America) and in order to do that, they have to follow a procedure, etc. In order to do that, they need to have a production plan and strategy, which belongs to operation management.

9.2. Manage Supply Chain

What is it?

- Definition: All decicions relating to suppliers, including finding potential suppliers, acquiring them, sending requests and receiving materials, and scheduling time, belong to sourcing sub-function

- Example: Mc Donald, in order to produce the food to their customers, they need to buy meet from farmers (in their strategy, farmers in the region). They need to first assess available farms in order to choose potential providers, and then negotiate with them. Similarly, their paper boxes for to-go needed to have providers as well. 

- Synonym: procurement, sourcing

9.3. Produce/Assemble/TestProducts

What is it?

- Definition: The raw materials received from suppiers are processed, assembled, and tested (if new products)

- Example: After receving meat from farmers, Mc Donald employees start to transform these meat so that they are ready for the orders. When there is one order, the meat is cooked and assembled accordingly

- Synonym: assembling, production

9.4.Manage Logistic And Warehousing

What is it?

- Definition: Develop logistic governance, operation of outboundtransportation and warehousing

- Example: As a nature of their business, IKEA need a lot of spaces for their inventory. They also need to take care of the outbound transportation from their stores/ warehouses to the customers if they need, or from one store to another.

- Synonym: logistic, warehousing

9.5. Manage Service Delivery

What is it?

- Definition: Manage Service demands and resource plan accordingly as well as prepare for resource

- Example: If a company's service is a cloud-based data storage, they had to make sure that they are able to either create their own cloud, or have access to clouds from other providers. They also need to make sure that they have enough capacity for their clients as well as this cloud is available as soon as agreed with the clients

- Synonym: service delivery management

9.6. Deliver Service

What is it?

- Definition: This sub-process includes revision of agreed terms, deliver service to customer and as well as complete service delivery

- Example: After receving meat from farmers, Mc Donald employees start to transform these meat so that they are ready for the orders. When there is one order, the meat is cooked and assembled accordingly
